A Badjao Trip to Remember

This summer, the Johansons, Medcalfs, Willits and Buckalews got to visit the Badjao Tribe and enjoy time with the children and families.

First Stop

After a tour of the village, the group kicked things off with a visit to the Badjao Bridge Lighthouse Preschool.

Snack!

Led by Chef Sammy, the crew cooked a daily snack for the kids featuring fried banana. Then the learning began!

Science!

Ms. Kristi and her assistant, Mr. Kimo, conducted a science experiment that blew up in all the good ways.

Health!

Badjao Nurse Carla and a visiting nurse from Alaska taught a wonderful lesson on health and hygiene. Ms. Daisy and Ms. Sierra inspired their new friends to brush their teeth.

Fun!

Pastor Jake entertained the children as only Pastor Jake can. Surprise and delight!

New Friends

The Badjao families and California families loved one another well. There was laughter, learning and genuine care. God was so present.

One of the crew’s favorite memories is when the kids played together. There were no barriers of language, culture or expectations. In these and other real moments, the many families were one.

Thank you for all you do to love our Badjao families well.
Gratefully yours,
Dan Johanson, Executive Director
