Meet Sheilla Mea
At the age of 10, Sheilla Mea was able to start Kindergarten. This year she is 15 years old, a bright, thoughtful student in the 4th grade.
Sheilla Mea had a difficult start to life. Her mother abandoned her at birth, leaving her with Sheilla Mea’s father. Unable to care for her, Sheilla Mea’s father entrusted her to his parents. Sheilla Mea’s grandparents loved her well, but were financially unable to send her to school.
At the age of 9, Sheilla Mea was adopted by Hanifa, one of our volunteer staff members. Hanifa helped Sheilla Mea process her birth certificate so that she could go to school. Despite Sheilla Mea’s painful childhood, she excels in school and is making her grandparents and Hanifa very proud. Way to go, Sheilla Mea!
